Best Coffee Shops to Work From in Colorado Springs
When I first tried to find the best spots to work remotely here in Colorado Springs, I was surprised – there wasn’t a reliable guide anywhere. So, lucky you! I took it upon myself to visit nearly every coffee shop I could find, all so I could share my top five picks and why they’re worth your time.
Your guide to good vibes, strong coffee, and solid Wi-Fi starts here.
Working remotely has its perks — one of the best being the freedom to choose your office for the day. But if you’re like me, you need more than just caffeine to hit your groove. I’m talking about good seating, wifi + outlets that actually work, a space that actually feels welcoming to linger in, and some great food choices to keep you fueled.
Here are my top five favorite spots to work remotely from in Colorado Springs – and exactly what makes them special.
1. Building Three Coffee Co.
Location: 2727 N Cascade Ave, Suite 123 (in the Lincoln Center north of downtown)
Parking: Free lot right out front –it’s busy, but I’ve never had a problem snagging a spot
Tables: You can grab a seat in the main cafe or head to their extended hallway seating – a hidden gem in the back of the cafe lined with tables. There’s always plenty of room back there!
Outlets: Available at some wall spots in the main cafe and at many tables in the back hallway.
Vibe: Building Three Coffee is spacious with a creative buzz. Housed in a repurposed school building, the space still has that old-school charm, but the main cafe is bright, modern, and full of plants. The extended hallway seating in the back is lined with tables and usually filled with people deep in their laptops, giving it a good coworking energy.
What to order: Latte + one of their seasonal syrups (rose cardamom if you’re lucky). The breakfast burrito is a sleeper hit (see pic above). Their drip is flavorful – and refills are only a $1. If you’re in the mood for a sweet treat, their orange cake with espresso frosting is delicious.
MY THOUGHTS: I love this place. It’s definitely busy and has a steady hum of activity, but it still works for getting things done – especially with all the available seating. And in my opinion, their espresso is some of the best in the Springs. This is my go to spot for working.
2. The Exchange
Location: 526 S Tejon St. (downtown)
Parking: Metered street parking out front — this is downtown, so can definitely fill up during peak hours, but usually doable
Tables: Lots of seating options — inside, outside, and a tucked-away upstairs loft that’s perfect for quieter work
Outlets: Available, especially upstairs and near the walls
Vibe: The Exchange is urban, artsy, and full of character. Mismatched furniture, bold colors, local art, and the hum of conversation give it an energetic, creative feel
What to order: Their Zombie White Espresso Lattes will definitely wake you up — the white espresso is bold and a little nutty – I love it! Pair it with one of their house-made pastries (they’ve got a huge selection, and every one I’ve tried has been delicious. Their main menu is equally impressive, with plenty of creative fusion dishes. I went for the Thai Chicken Salad Bowl (see pic above) on my last visit and was completely blown away.
MY THOUGHTS: Spacious and lively, but designed with enough cozy corners to keep you focused. It’s the kind of place that gives you an energy boost just by being there — and the stellar food and coffee keep you fueled for hours. If you need a quieter atmosphere, head up to the loft. While The Exchange is technically a restaurant with a full menu, it still feels perfectly natural to work here. You order at the counter, settle in where you like, and it’s yours to enjoy for the day.
3. Switchback Coffee Roasters – Shooks Run
Location: 330 N Institute St. (just east of downtown in a quiet residential pocket - they have 2 locations that are pretty close to each other, but Shooks Run is my fav)
Parking: Free street parking
Tables: Plenty of options — individual tables, larger group setups, and window seats
Outlets: Scattered, with more in the back booths
Vibe: Switchback Coffee is clean, minimalist, and full of plants. It feels calm and curated without trying too hard.
What to order: Their house-roasted coffee is always great. Try a pour-over or one of their rotating seasonal lattes. Their matcha is also delicious! Food-wise, you can’t go wrong with their avocado toast (see pic above) or their breakfast sandwich.
MY THOUGHTS: It’s bright, peaceful, and functional – perfect for when you need to get in the zone without feeling isolated. The balance of great coffee, real food, and natural light makes it one of the best remote work spots in town. The window seats up front get the best light, and there are tables outside for when the weather is nice!
4. Homa Cafe + Bar at Kinship Landing
Location: 415 S Nevada Ave. (inside the Kinship Landing hotel downtown)
Parking: Metered street parking or 2 paid parking lots behind the hotel (to the east)
Tables: A mix of solo tables, communal seating, and patio space
Outlets: Scattered, but available
Vibe: Homa is modern, airy, and community-focused. Think floor-to-ceiling natural light, warm wood accents, and plants everywhere. You’ll find a friendly mix of hotel guests, locals, and remote workers here – and on weekdays, it’s usually quiet enough to really focus. My favorite spot is the back room that feels like a greenhouse: huge communal tables surrounded by greenery, perfect for spreading out or collaborating with others.
What to order: Don’t skip the hand pies (trust me on this one) – flaky, flavorful, and perfect with coffee. Their grain bowls and breakfast sandwich (see pic above) are also solid picks. I love their Oat Milk Draft Latté – oat milk + cold brew + vanilla. And, they have free refills on drip coffee - a definite win for remote working!
MY THOUGHTS: With plenty of seating, great food, and a warm, inviting atmosphere, it’s easy to make this your workday home base. It’s social enough to feel lively but never so busy that it’s distracting. And that greenhouse-style room in the back? Hands down my go-to for a productive day.
5. Hold Fast Coffee Co.
Location: 2360 Montebello Square Dr Suite H1 (north side of town)
Parking: Shared lot with plenty of free spaces, especially in the morning
Tables: Plenty of small tables and some outdoor seating
Outlets: Limited but available
Vibe: Hold Fast is bright, minimalist, and relaxed. The space has plenty of natural light, especially in the front room. It’s the kind of place where you can settle in without feeling rushed.
What to order: Their drip coffee never misses, and they make a great cappuccino. The blueberry iced tea (see pic above)? Crazy refreshing. The croissant with seasonal preserves is delicious and their bagels are great (also both shown above!)
MY THOUGHTS: Quiet, friendly, and laid-back, this is an easy spot to focus without the distraction of a noisy crowd. They curate a great playlist that adds to the atmosphere without overpowering conversation or concentration. Overall, it’s a solid, reliable choice for working remotely – especially if you’re on the north side of Colorado Springs.
